What makes Dr. Kara Paat unique?

Optimizing brain function relies on maintaining balanced proprioceptive input and ensuring symmetrical activation of cortical hemispheres. Disturbances in brain activity, often characterized by a decrease in function, can contribute to a wide array of patient complaints. Therefore, recognizing a patient's issues as originating from brain-related factors can significantly alter their care trajectory for the better.

When the brain exhibits asymmetrical activity, it can trigger compensatory patterns of joint dysfunction as the brain tries to adapt proprioceptive feedback to minimize the asymmetry, leading to musculoskeletal imbalance. Failing to address these patterns appropriately can exacerbate the negative impact on the brain's function and create a wind-up of symptoms in the body.

When we have dysfunctional joints, categorized as fixations and subluxations, the amount of proprioceptive feedback reaching the brain may be diminished. Specific chiropractic adjustments have the potential to enhance proprioceptive feedback, thereby producing positive effects on brain function.

Examination and treatment applications that target the anatomical site of CNS dysfunction or imbalance may help to ensure a tailored chiropractic approach addressing each patient's unique needs to achieve optimal outcomes. With an emphasis on patient education, Dr. Paat helps to empower individuals to take an active role in their own health by providing guidance on exercise, posture, and lifestyle modifications to sustain your progress long-term.

What is an adjustment?

The purpose of an adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a hemispheric imbalances, chronic conditions, repetitive stress or trauma- all of which can lead to tissue injury. Injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for an individual. Specific manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, or areas related to the ongoing cause of the breakdown can often lead to restoration of mobility, improving proper alignment and function to the spine and other areas of the body, alleviating pain, improving mobility, and enhancing overall well-being and brain balance.
